- This Veneno Roadster had been sitting at a Dubai dealership for over two years.
- It initially failed to sell in an online auction, but SBX Cars negotiated a sale with the highest bidder.
- The highest price fetched by a Veneno Roadster reportedly stands at $8.3 million.
A rare Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has traded hands in the Middle East for $6 million, becoming the most valuable car ever sold through an online auction platform, according to SBX Cars. However, selling this limited-edition Lamborghini has not been easy.
The car was listed for sale through SBX Cars a couple of months ago after sitting on the showroom floor of VIP Motors in Dubai for at least two years. The dealership had long been asking $9.5 million for the car but it failed to sell. While there are only nine Veneno Roadsters in existence, this is the only one finished in satin black with green highlights.

That wasn’t the only instance of the car failing to sell. The Veneno faced another unsuccessful auction attempt in February 2020 with RM Sotheby’s, where it was anticipated to fetch between €4.5 million and €5.5 million, yet remained unsold, suggesting its reserve price may have been too lofty.
The SBX Cars listing on the Veneno Roadster ended on May 10, and initially, the car went unsold (once again…). However, the auction house says it negotiated with the highest bidder to finalize the sale after the auction.
While a $6 million price tag is eye-watering, it is significantly less than VIP Motors had been asking for the rare Lambo. It’s also much less than the $8.3 million fetched by the odd, cream-colored Veneno Roadster seized from the vice president of Equatorial Guinea back in 2019.
For collectors who missed out on this satin black Veneno Roadster, SBX Cars have an even more exclusive Lamborghini set to go up for sale in the coming weeks. That car is one of just three Veneno Coupes and has been driven less than 130 miles (209 km) since new.
Given that it’s three times as rare as the Veneno Roadster, it’s reasonable to assume it could sell for significantly more.
