The Ford Bronco’s been out a few years, but has the honeymoon phase worn off? We’re about to find out. We’re subjecting a Bronco to a week-long Colorado crucible – the harshest terrains the state can throw at it. Got any burning questions about how it holds up? Our test subject is a 2024 Bronco Everglades, packing Ford’s 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine churning out 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. It sends that power to all four wheels via a ten-speed automatic gearbox.

It’s important to point out, this powertrain combination is the only available for the Everglades trim. While the standard 12-inch infotainment system is the major update across all trims for 2024, the overall package feels like a carryover from last year.
It also comes with vinyl upholstery, a heavy-duty front bumper, a Warn Winch, and even an air snorkel. Ford also sells a “Mid Package” that comes standard on the Everglades. It includes ambient interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, heated seats, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot warning.
The Sasquatch package also comes standard on this trim and really ratchets up the off-road ability of this SUV. That’s due to the standard 35-inch mud-terrain tires, beadlock-capable wheels, a shorter final drive ratio, locking front, and rear axles, modified fender flares, and a slight suspension lift.
Essentially, this is a go-anywhere type of SUV and so that’s what we’ll try to do. I’m not planning any super extreme rock crawling but the Bronco will shuttle me over several mountain passes while there.
