MG announced a surprising debut for the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed with the Cyber GTS Concept. This rear-wheel-drive EV is a coupe version derived from the MG Cyberster roadster and hints at a potential future production model.
The MG Cyber GTS Concept shares much of its bodywork with the Cyberster, including the entire front end, bumpers, and lighting units. However, it distinguishes itself by featuring a fixed roof in place of the roadster’s retractable fabric top. This alteration results in a sleeker roofline, a more streamlined greenhouse, and a redesigned rear deck.

Details about the interior layout are yet to be revealed, leaving uncertainty about whether the coupe will be a two-seater or adopt a 2+2 configuration.
More importantly, the concept isn’t merely a design study, as it is positioned to potentially evolve into a production model. MG suggests that the Cyber GTS Concept “explores the further potential for MG to forge a new future with a GTS model in the EV era,” following the footsteps of the Cyberster roadster that debuted in 2023.
MG has not disclosed technical details about the concept, except for confirming its use of a fully electric powertrain and rear-wheel-drive layout. Given its close association with the MG Cyberster, it is reasonable to speculate that the two models could share similar specifications
Keep in mind, the most potent RWD version of the roadster produces 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS), while an AWD model with dual electric motors achieves a healthier 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS). Both configurations are powered by a 77 kWh battery pack.
MG Cyber GTS Concept
Overall, the electric coupe appears poised to rival the upcoming Porsche 718 Cayman EV, while also paying homage to the classic MGB/MGC GT models of the 1960s. According to MG, the Cyber GTS Concept draws inspiration from the MGC GTS Sebring racecar, which achieved a notable 10th overall finish (3rd in the prototype category) at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1968, marking the best result from the factory MG team in that race.
Additional debuts at Goodwood
In addition to the MG Cyber GTS Concept, the SAIC-owned brand unveiled a prototype of the EXE181. Inspired by the 1959 MG EX181 land speed record car, this ultra-sleek concept boasts an impressive aerodynamic coefficient of 0.181cd and promises a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in just 1.9 seconds.
Last but not least, MG also introduced the new generation of the HS SUV at Goodwood, which is closely-related to the Chinese Roewe RX5.
