- Spy photographers have snapped the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV undergoing testing in Europe.
- The model is slated to go into production next year and rumors have suggested it could have around 1,000 hp in range-topping guise.
- The car will ride on the all-new AMG.EA platform and battle the Porsche Taycan.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is going electric and spy photographers have snapped new pictures of the Porsche Taycan rival. It’s heavily camouflaged, but promises to be a sleek four-door coupe.
The front end is hidden behind a bulky disguise, but we can expect a fully enclosed Panamericana grille that is flanked by sweptback headlights. Moving further back, we can see curvaceous bodywork and a focus on aerodynamics.

Designers also gave the model a long hood and a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof. They’re joined by an upward sweeping beltline, flush-mounted door handles, and muscular rear haunches. Rounding out the highlights are lightweight wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system with bronze calipers up front.
The rear end is an act of deception as a number of components are ‘fake.’ However, it’s interesting to note the prototype appears to have a trunk rather than the current liftback design, although that remains to be seen.

The automaker has been tight-lipped about the car, but has previously confirmed it will ride on the “first dedicated electric vehicle architecture developed by Mercedes‑AMG.” It’s known as the AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA) and the company has described it as a “technological trailblazer which will pioneer a number of new innovations.”
Details are a closely guarded secret, but Mercedes has already confirmed the model will have a new high-performance battery as well as axial-flux motor technology. Spy photographers also noted the car has a rear axle steering system.
That’s not much to go on, but the car was previewed by the Vision AMG concept and Mercedes has previously said their Sindelfingen plant will “produce models based on the electric AMG.EA platform from 2025.”
