- The Performance EV previews a production model set for a 2025 debut.
- It’s the first Acura EV built on an all-new platform developed by Honda.
- The coupe-SUV will be manufactured at Honda’s new EV Hub in Ohio.
Acura aims to energize its electric offerings, and the new “Performance EV” concept is here to give us a hint of what will be in its showrooms by the end of 2025. The coupe SUV will be the first model built on an all-new platform Honda has developed following the scrapping of their EV partnership with General Motors.
The words Performance and EV may have got your hopes up for something a bit more Rimac than Rivian, but Honda’s high-riding concept cuts an attractive shape, with short overhangs and a smaller midsection that almost evokes memories of a Mazda RX-8.

Acura says that the front end takes inspiration from hydrofoil superyachts, while the hindquarters are said to be inspired by the NSX. And, from some angles, that rear end looks heavily inspired by Honda’s future Formula 1 partners over at Aston Martin.
There’s a vented hood for reasons unknown since, you know, this is an EV, after all. More vents are found on the sides, while the concept rides on some donk-tastic 23-inch wheels wrapped in 295/35R23 profile performance tires.
Acura is leaning into the whole performance angle, giving its latest concept a set of large four-piston calipers painted in Moonlit White and neon green Acura script. The green text apparently ties the car to the Acura Electric Vision Design study revealed at Monterey Car Week last year.
While some aspects, like the wheels and stance, will likely be toned down, the Performance EV previews a very real production model that will be manufactured at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio. Acura’s electric SUV Coupe will appear sometime next year, with production slated for late 2025.
“Building on the just-launched all-electric 2024 Acura ZDX, our next all-electric Acura SUV will continue our focus on delivering Acura clients an exhilarating driving experience in the electrified future,” said Mike Langel, assistant vice president, Acura National Sales.
The Acura Performance EV concept will make its public debut at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August 16, and will be featured on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
