One of the headliners of Monterey Car Week has been the gorgeous Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram but as it turns out, it wasn’t the only new model launched by the German marque’s luxury division in sunny California. Say hello to the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Edition Nordic Glow.
This special version of the S-Class has been created exclusively for the U.S. market and will be capped at just 50 units, making it rarer than the SL680 that’s stolen all the headlines. It was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and has been brought to life through the Manufaktur individualization program.

All 50 examples of the S 680 Edition Nordic Glow have the same exterior finish, combining Northern Lights Violet Metallic with Moonlight White Metallic. These colors were chosen as they represent the stunning Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, that can be seen in the Arctic Circle. Adding to the car’s exceptional looks is the Maybach Series Design Package with Dark Chrome trim accents.
A special set of wheels has also been designed for the luxury sedan. These wheels measure 21 inches at all four corners and include an intricate spoke design inspired by the shape of champagne flutes.
If there’s anything Maybach does better than crafting beautiful car exteriors, it’s creating extraordinarily plush and luxurious interiors. That’s exactly what it’s done with the Edition Nordic Glow. Adorning the seats is hand-stitched Rose Grey Exclusive Nappa leather with Amethyst Grey contrast stitching. The steering wheel incorporates wood and Nappa leather, as do the folding seats at the rear and the rear pillows. As if that wasn’t enough, the car rocks natural Herringbone dark walnut wood trim and sports a special ‘Edition Nordic Glow 1 of 50’ badge on the center console.
Like the standard model, this limited-run creation has a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 with 603 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. Prices start at $339,000.
