GMC has unveiled a significantly updated 2025 Yukon, bringing it in line with its platform-sharing brethren, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade full-size SUVs, both of which have already undergone their own facelifts.
The 2025 Yukon features a bolder front end, a completely overhauled interior with a massive infotainment screen, a more powerful diesel powertrain now available across the lineup, and the introduction of a new AT4 Ultimate trim that blends off-road capabilities with premium amenities.

Starting with the exterior, GMC designers zeroed in on the Yukon’s front end. Taller LED headlights now extend deeper into the redesigned bumper, while the updated grille offers greater distinction between trims, enhanced by animated lighting units. The rear changes are more understated, with a new trim piece linking the slightly elongated taillights and quad tailpipes now featuring a squared-off design.
The profile largely carries over from the fourth-gen Yukon that debuted in 2020. Still, there are new options for the alloy wheels, now up to 24 inches on the Denali Ultimate. The new AT4 Ultimate trim gets a more rugged setup with 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, complemented by red badging, matching recovery points, and a prominent skid plate.

Moving inside, the dashboard has been completely redesigned, aligning with the modern trend of equipping full-size SUVs with massive displays. While not as impressive as the 55-inch screen in the 2025 Cadillac Escalade, the Yukon’s new 16.8-inch vertically-stacked infotainment represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor.
Available features include an 8-inch climate control touchscreen for rear passengers, a panoramic sunroof, and a 22-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system on the Denali Ultimate. This system includes stainless-steel headrest-mounted speakers in the front seats and optional second-row executive seating.
The new AT4 Ultimate combines the rugged appearance and lifted Air Ride Adaptive Suspension of the standard AT4 with a more luxurious cabin, featuring Obsidian Rush trim, full-grain leather seats, and Ash Burl wood accents.
Boosted Diesel And More Safety
While the Cadillac Escalade dropped the diesel option in its recent facelift, the GMC Yukon ups the game with a more potent version of the 3.0-liter Duramax. The turbodiesel makes 305 hp (227 kW / 309 PS) and 495 lb-ft (671 Nm) of torque, representing an increase of 28 hp and 35 lb-ft (48 Nm) compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, the diesel is now available across the entire lineup, including theoff-road-focused AT4 and AT4 Ultimate trims.

The 2025 GMC Yukon continues to offer the standard 5.3-liter V8 gasoline engine with 355 hp (265 kW / 360 PS) and an optional 6.2-liter V8 producing 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS). All three powertrains are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission, delivering power to either the rear wheels or all four wheels, depending on the configuration.
Safety equipment has been upgraded with the addition of the latest ADAS. Among the highlights are the Night Vision system with thermal object detection, the Super Cruise with hands-free trailering, and more sophisticated systems for those who plan on taking advantage of the SUV’s 8,400 lbs (3,810 kg) towing capability.
Availability
The 2025 GMC Yukon will be available in US dealers by the end of 2024. Pricing will be announced closer to the start of production at the Arlington Assembly plant in Texas. The facelifted Yukon will also undergo a right-hand-drive conversion for the Australian market, as part of a global expansion.
