A pair of Porsche 911s have been left with serious damage after the duo collided on a Californian canyon road, leaving one without an engine and the other with crumpled bodywork that’ll be exorbitantly expensive to fix.
California has some absolutely spectacular driving roads that enthusiasts flock to daily. Pick a quiet day, and it’s motoring nirvana. Unfortunately, these two 911s came together after one of them reportedly attempted to do a U-turn in the middle of Angeles Crest Highway.

While it’s impossible to say exactly what happened without clear footage of the crash, it looks as though the white 911 GT3 RS collided with the rear of the silver 911. It’s also tough to say what exact 911 variant the silver car is, but the force of the impact has ripped out the engine, leaving it resting in the center of the road. We can also spot a set of aftermarket Ohlins coilovers on the car, so the owner must be a keen driver.
Beyond missing an engine, the silver 911’s rear end has been completely torn off, and one of the rear wheels and suspension components pushed horribly out of position. It’s a very, very sad sight.
The 911 GT3 RS also suffered massive damage and will likely be heading directly to a salvage yard. The driver’s side front wheel, hub, and suspension parts have been torn off, as have the front quarter panel and bumper. It may be repairable but doing so would be a lot of money. If no one saves it, some of its parts could be removed and sold.
The crash was attended by crews from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Air Rescue 5 wing. Thankfully, no one is believed to have been injured in the crash.
