- Ford has rolled out new and more affordable BlueCruise subscriptions and purchase plans.
- Customers can spend $2,495 to get BlueCruise for a minimum of seven years.
- The automaker will also offer monthly and annual subscriptions for $49.99 and $495, respectively.
Ford recently introduced BlueCruise 1.4 and now the company has announced the hands-free driving technology has become even more affordable. The automaker is also promising easier activations as well as the flexibility to choose between monthly or annual subscriptions as well as a new one-time purchase option.
While the plans are convoluted, customers can get a one-time subscription for $2,495 when ordering their vehicle. However, this isn’t a ‘lifetime’ subscription as the fine print says BlueCruise will only be active for a minimum of seven years. After that point, Ford could theoretically charge you more or drop support for your vehicle altogether.

Depending on the model and trim, a one-year subscription to BlueCruise could be standard at the time of ordering. If not, you can get it for $495. Furthermore, if a BlueCruise subscription doesn’t come standard and you don’t opt for the one-year subscription, you’ll still get a complimentary 90-day trial.
At the end of that trial, an annual subscription will cost $495. That’s not cheap, but it’s significantly less than the old plan which cost $800 per year.
If you only travel long distances every so often – such as an annual summer road trip – you can opt for a monthly subscription that costs $49.99. That’s essentially $25 cheaper than the previous plan, which cost $75 per month.
Besides becoming more affordable and offering a new one-time purchase option, BlueCruise availability is expanding to new models and trims for 2025. The automaker didn’t go into specifics, but the semi-autonomous driving system can be found on the Explorer, Expedition, F-150, F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E. BlueCruise is also available on an assortment of Lincolns including the new 2025 Navigator.
The latest tweaks build on last month’s announcement that BlueCruise 1.4 will remain in hands-free mode for longer without interruption. The latest system also includes a new motion controller to reduce side-to-side movement within a lane.
