• Sales of the VW Jetta climbed an impressive 35% during the third quarter.
  • The Tiguan LWB is the only current VW model that outsells the Jetta.
  • Total VW passenger car deliveries increased by 6% during the same quarter.

There’s no denying that sedans are no longer as prevalent on the roads as they once were, but there are still plenty of appealing options available for those who seek them out. The Volkswagen Jetta is one of them, and it’s proven that sedans aren’t dead, at least not yet.

During the third quarter of this year, VW managed to sell an impressive 19,379 Jettas in the United States. This figure marks a 35% increase over Q3 2023, making the Jetta the brand’s second best-selling model during that period. The only Volkswagen model to surpass the Jetta last quarter was the Tiguan LWB, which moved 21,231 units—a significant 26% increase from the 16,914 sold in the same period the previous year.

It’s unclear how many examples of the recently updated 2025 Jetta were sold during the quarter, although its arrival likely contributed to the surge in demand. The updated Jetta was unveiled at the end of June and adopts a more upscale design with a revised front fascia, sportier bumpers, and new 17- and 18-inch wheel options. Some important updates were also made in the cabin, including the fitment of a larger 8-inch infotainment display and new climate controls.

The Jetta and Tiguan LWB weren’t the only Volkswagen models to see a rise in sales during the third quarter. The Atlas, for instance, experienced a 16% jump in deliveries, with figures climbing from 16,087 units to 18,718. Meanwhile, its Atlas Cross Sport sibling also enjoyed a modest 6% increase, with 9,323 units sold compared to 8,821 in the same period last year. The Golf GT saw its sales rise by 27%, with 3,345 units sold in the quarter.

However, not all models fared as well. For example, sales of the Taos dropped by 6%, bringing the total down to 15,397 units. The ID.4, Volkswagen’s all-electric SUV, experienced a significant decline, with sales plummeting by 58%, from 10,707 units to just 4,518. Arteon sales also fell 62% from 684 to 263, while 6% fewer Golf Rs were also sold during the third quarter.

Overall, despite some under-performing models, Volkswagen’s total U.S. sales saw a solid increase of 6% for the quarter, reaching 93,271 units, up from 87,756 units in Q3 2023.
