- While the Cadillac has significantly more power than the Lamborghini, it also weighs almost 3,000 lbs more.
- John Hennessey jumped behind the wheel of the Escalade-V H1000 to see what it could do.
- Both standing-start and rolling drag races were done to see which of the two was quickest.
The Cadillac Escalade is not the type of vehicle you’d ordinarily expect to see racing a Lamborghini Huracan Evo. However, the Escalade-V H1000 from Hennessey Performance is no ordinary Escalade. Indeed, this beast is just about the quickest SUV of its size on the planet.
Hennessey unveiled its H1000 package for the Escalade-V late last year and will build just 100 examples for the 2023 and 2024 model years. It boasts an incredible 1,005 hp and 882 lb-ft (1,195 Nm) of torque, and despite weighing roughly 6,200 lbs (2,812 kg), it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds.

To achieve these hugely impressive numbers, Hennessey modified the Escalade-V’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 by adding a new high-flow supercharger, an air induction system, upgraded lifters and push rods, a high-flow catalytic converter, new cams, ported cylinder heads, and new software calibration.
To see just how hard it launches, the tuner lined it up against a Huracan Evo. Neither driver used launch control, and both the Huracan and Escalade-V were in their respective Sport modes. In the first race from a standing start, the Caddy got the better launch and quickly opened up a gap to the Lamborghini. However, as the speeds started to build, the Italian supercar surged past the Hennessey to claim the victory, winning by roughly two car lengths.
For the second race, the Escalade-V was given a slight head start. This allowed it to create a bigger gap over the Huracan and claim victory, although it did come down to a photo finish due to the Lamborghini closing the gap as the speeds continued to build.
The final test was a rolling race between the duo. Both are extremely fast and although the Huracan walked away with the victory despite boasting “only” 631 hp, it’s worth remembering it was racing a luxurious family hauler that weighs almost 3,000 lbs (1,360 kg) more.
