• The bespoke steel bodykit resembles something straight out of a DIY project.
  • No information about the car’s ownership or service history is available.
  • The seller is asking $5,400 for this unique and unusual build from New York.

Despite what you may be thinking, this bizarre creation has not been lifted from the set of a cheap car movie and is actually a heavily-modified fourth-gen Pontiac Firebird that has been overhauled and is looking for a new home.

The Detroit muscle car has been advertised for sale on Craigslist in New York, and even though it’s bound to turn more heads than many legitimate supercars for all the wrong reasons, it won’t break the bank. However, anyone who turns to look at this thing will probably do so out of curiosity rather than admiration.

As is often the case with listings on Craigslist, few details have been provided about the car. What we do know is that it’s been fitted with a one-off steel bodykit. Based purely on the craftsmanship (or lack thereof) that’s on display, we suspect the car was brought to life in a garage, rather than at an experienced body shop.

It’s hard to pinpoint which area of the car is the most shocking, but it could be the front end. It has a radical and sharp fascia that kind of reminds us of the Lykan Hypersport (if you squint hard), except for the fact that it looks far less refined and doesn’t match with the rest of the body. Key elements include a custom bumper, a blacked-out grille, new headlights, and gaping-wide air intakes on either side. The owner has also installed a rather unique hood, complete with hood pins.

The smooth and flowing lines of the original Firebird have then been covered with boxy front fenders. New fenders are also found at the rear, as are new bulbous air intakes protruding from the rear haunches. The back end of the Pontiac is just as weird as the front and includes four cheap-looking taillights, mesh grilles, two central exhausts and a huge wing.

Can You Guess What’s Hiding Under This Steel-Clad Monster?

Most of the cabin appears original, although minor upgrades have been made. These include the fitment of an aftermarket head unit, carbon fiber trim on the steering wheel, and blue racing harnesses.

The seller claims the car “runs and drives excellent” and is fitted with the original 3.4-liter V6 with 147,000 miles (~236,000 km) on the clock. While the design of the original Firebird has aged gracefully, this one looks terribly dated with the over-the-top changes. It goes for $5,400, which according to the description is a “great price for custom work”.
