The BMW M2 is arguably the best sports car in the brand’s current line-up and serves as a compelling alternative to sports cars like the Porsche Cayman and Mercedes-AMG A45 S. Now, Manhart has turned the M2 into a car that won’t just leave the Porsche and Mercedes for dead but can also frighten some legitimate supercars.

BMW’s S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six ordinarily delivers 473 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, but thanks to the fitment of a carbon fiber air intake, a stainless steel exhaust with a 200-cell catalytic converter, and either the Manhart MHtronik powerbox or a factory ECU remap, power has been lifted to 718 hp. Torque has also jumped to 664 lb-ft (900 Nm).

Manhart hasn’t released any acceleration times for the car, but with a power output like this in a relatively compact sports car, we’re sure the MH2 700 II is an absolute weapon. Remarkably, the German tuning firm also sells more extreme performance upgrades for the M2 to make it even quicker, but they are on a need-to-know basis.

Other modifications offered by Manhart include lowering springs from KW or a set of KW Variant 4 coilovers that drop the ride height and promise to improve the handling. The brakes have gone unchanged, but anyone wanting to add roughly 250 extra horses to their M2 would be wise to shop around for a beefier brake package.

Numerous carbon fiber parts round out the upgrades. These include carbon fiber inserts across the front fascia, distinctive side skirts, a carbon bonnet, new kidney grilles, a bespoke rear diffuser, and a huge fixed wing. Champagne-colored decals also adorn parts of the exterior. Found in the cabin are a small roll-over bar, seat covers, carbon fiber trimmings, and Manhart-branded floor mats.
