Land Rover has unveiled the latest special edition of the Range Rover, which is exclusive to the Australian market. The Ranger Rover SV Orpheus Edition is limited to six units, featuring a bespoke spec inspired by a remote island.
Besides owning a limited-production Range Rover, owners of the Orpheus Edition will receive an unconventional gift. The company will give them a replica of an underwater installation, depicting an indigenous woman called Jayme Marshall. The original sculpture measures 2.2 m (7.2 feet) tall, and currently rests underwater, off the coast of North Queensland. It was created by British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor and serves as a symbol for the protection of the Great Barrier Reef.

As suggested by its name, the special Range Rover has many references to Orpheus Island, located in Queensland, Australia. The exterior is painted in Blue Gloss, combined with a silver roof. The SUV rides on 23-inch forged alloy wheels, finished in Dark Grey with Black Satin accents. Finally, it sports Range Rover lettering in Black Metal, highlighted by Silver Chrome.
Inside, we find Perlino-colored quilted leather seats with matching seatbelts, a “Natural Cream Ash Burr” steering wheel, and white ceramic controls, while the upholstery on the upper part of the cabin matches the exterior. For an extra level of exclusivity, the cushions, treadplates, and seat embroidery can be further personalized.
The Orpheus Edition is powered by a mild-hybrid twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine, producing 570 hp (452 kW / 578 PS) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint to be completed in 4.5 seconds, which is not bad for a heavyweight luxurious SUV.
Fittingly, the special edition was unveiled to an exclusive audience in a luxury residence at Orpheus Island in North Queensland. This invite-only destination will be the home of a luxury retreat, set to take place between November 29 and December 5, 2024.
The company didn’t reveal whether the 6 available units of the Range Rover SV Orpheus Edition have already been spoken for, but we guess you can still buy one. The model is priced from AU$ 520,561 (US$ 339,000) before on-road costs, making it the priciest member of the lineup in Australia.
For comparison, the standard Range Rover starts from AU$ 285,211 (US$ 185,700), while the rival Bentley Bentayga is priced from AU$ 378,600 (US$ 235,000). Still, the latest special Range Rover feels like a bargain when you compare it to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which starts from AU$ 705,000 (US$ 459,100) in the same market.
