It’s not very often that a legitimate rally car comes up for auction, but that’s exactly what we have here. Not only has this 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI been used in multiple races but it’s also been driven by two of America’s most famous rally car drivers, Ken Block and Travis Pastrana.
This very special WRX STI was built by Vermont SportsCar and used by Block and Pastrana from 2007 to 2008 in the Production World Rally Championship. It competed in six races during the campaign and was later raced by Mark Fox and David Mirra in Rally America. While it started out life as a regular, road-going WRX STI, significant modifications have transformed it into an absolute animal.

Like a normal WRX STI, power is provided by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and while no horsepower and torque figures are known about this specific rally car, it inevitably has much more than the standard 300 hp and 300 lb-ft. Controller everything is a MoTec ECU that supports various different power maps. Vermont SportCar also designed a custom exhaust for the STI while also fitting an FIA-spec fuel system with dual fuel pumps, Samco radiator hoses, and an anti-lag function.
Rally cars cop heaps of abuse so Ohlins coilovers with external reservoirs are found at all four corners. The Subbie also rocks aftermarket adjustable control arms, new sway bar end links, upgraded brakes, and rolls on 15-inch Speedline Corse wheels with Pirelli Scorpion tires.
The interior has been stripped out and is void of anything that’s not functional for rallying. There’s a full roll cage, Sparco Circuit II halo seats, a Momo steering wheel, fire suppression system, an intercom, custom switches panels, and fire extinguishers. A look at the odometer reveals the car has been driven 13,958 miles (~22,400 km).
Cars & Bids is handling the auction of the car, and if you’re tempted to place a bid, head on over to the listing before time runs out.
