• This insane G-Wagen pumps out 1,048 hp and 959 lb-ft (1,300 Nm) of torque.
  • A Formula 1-inspired carbon fiber steering wheel comes standard on the SUV.

With the 2024 Formula 1 Championship done and dusted, Lewis Hamilton’s hugely successful tenure with the Mercedes team has come to an end. To mark the occasion and celebrate the seven-time champion, German tuning company HOF has unveiled one of the craziest G-Wagen’s on the planet.

This wild creation is known as the Sir Class and sports an overhauled version of the G63’s venerable 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Now sporting upgraded turbochargers, aluminum pistons, stronger connecting rods, a high-flow fuel system, a new air intake, and an ECU tune, the iconic V8 produces 1,048 hp (1,063 PS) and 959 lb-ft (1,300 Nm) of torque. Those are insane numbers for a G-Class, allowing it to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds before powering through a 186 mph (300 km/h) top speed.

HOF has gone to town on the SUV’s design, ensuring its looks match the performance. The custom bodykit includes flared wheel arches, a bespoke hood, blacked-out grilles and intakes, and new rocker panels. A gorgeous paint scheme that fades from Sterling Silver to black is reminiscent of the latest Mercedes F1 cars and has been contrasted with bright turquoise accents, the same color used by Petronas.

Distinctive 23-inch forged wheels with carbon fiber aero covers add further to the dramatic presence of the brick-shaped SUV, as do the new side-exiting exhausts with ceramic white tailpipes. A lightweight carbon fiber roof panel has also been added, and carbon ceramic brakes are hidden behind the 23-inch shoes. HOF has also fitted coilovers to drop the ride height and improve the handling.

We’ve seen plenty of modified G-Classes over the years, many of which have radically overhauled interiors. However, we’ve never seen one with a steering wheel quite like HOF’s creation. The tuner has designed a wheel for the SUV very similar to the one found in the AMG One hypercar, itself inspired by the wheel Mercedes uses in F1.

Another addition is a set of front sports seats while most surfaces are now clad in black Alcantara and black Nappa leather. Plenty of turquoise blue elements are also found throughout, as is a bespoke headliner with the stitched outline of a racetrack.

Production of the special Sir Class will be limited to just 11 examples with each starting at $690,000.
