• Nissan is preparing to showcase an assortment of different vehicles at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
  • One of the stars is the R32 EV, which is an electromod that appears to have a dual-motor all-wheel drive system.
  • The company will also show a couple of X-Trail concepts as well as Autech versions of the Aura and Serena.

The Detroit Auto Show returns in January, but it’s far from the only event next month as there’s also CES and the Tokyo Auto Salon. We’re focusing on the latter today as Nissan has unveiled their lineup for the tuner-friendly show.

The star is undoubtedly an R32 Skyline GT-R that has been transformed into an EV. The project began in March of 2023 and has been prominently featured on social media in Japan over the past year.

Nissan didn’t say much about it, but workers carefully disassembled the interior, took detailed measurements, and then removed the twin-turbo engine as well as the suspension. A battery was then carefully inserted into the car, before being joined by what appears to be two electric motors.

Besides the electromod, Nissan will show two X-Trail concepts. The first is named the Unwind and it’s based on the latest version of the crossover. It features a custom paint job, extended fender flares, and a unique trailer. The combination promises to create a “seamless space that transcends the boundary between indoor and outdoor, perfect for luxurious moments like enjoying authentic espresso.”

The X-Trail Remastered concept is similar, but is based on the previous-generation crossover. Nissan says it provides the perfect environment for enjoying “analog records.”

Speaking of concepts, there will be a disaster support version of the Caravan. It will be equipped with a Leaf-sourced battery as well as solar panels. This should enable the vehicle to help support relief activities for several days at a time.

Visitors can also check out Autech versions of the Aura and Serena. Both have sporty body kits, a revised suspension, and a retuned steering system.

While that wraps up the highlights, Nissan will also show the Ariya Nismo, Fairlady Z, and GT-R Nismo Special Edition. They’ll be joined by a Motul Autech Z race car that competes in the Super GT series.
