- Dodge has decided to extend production of Hemi-powered Durangos due to customer demand.
- The Durango R/T and SRT Hellcat were originally slated to die at the end of the month.
- The 2025 Durango R/T starts at $54,495 but you’ll need to shell out six figures for an SRT Hellcat.
It’s a Christmas miracle of sorts as Dodge has announced they’re extending production of the Durango R/T and Durango SRT Hellcat. Both models were originally slated to ride off into the sunset by December 31, but they’ll now live into 2025.
Dodge said the change was due, in part, to “market demand and customer feedback.” The company didn’t elaborate, but the move follows the ouster of Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares. The former executive reportedly pushed for the Hemi’s elimination, despite strong opposition.

Dodge CEO Matt McAlear steered clear of the issue, but said “The Dodge Durango and the Hemi engine form a powerful pair, and Dodge will continue to produce the most powerful gas engine SUV on the planet into the 2025 calendar year.” He added, “It’s the perfect capstone for our celebration of 20 years of Hemi-powered Durango models.”
However, the celebrations are a little less joyous as Dodge killed the Durango 392 for 2025. As a result, you can no longer get a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 475 hp (354 kW / 482 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque.
Instead, your options are limited to a 5.7- or supercharged 6.2-liter V8. The former produces 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) and 390 lb-ft (528 Nm) of torque, while the latter develops 710 hp (529 kW / 720 PS) and 645 lb-ft (874 Nm) of torque. You can also get a 3.6-liter V6, but what’s the fun in that.
Pricing for the 2025 Durango starts at $41,995 but you’ll have to shell out $54,495 for an R/T. Customers can also get an assortment of SRT Hellcat special editions that retail for $113,720.
