Executives at Subaru of America could be popping champagne bottles after the brand posted a 5.6% increase in sales for 2024. It also enjoyed a particularly strong December and has now recorded an impressive 29 consecutive months of increased sales in the country.

Last year, no less than 667,725 new Subarus were sold nationwide compared to the 632,086 last year. This comes even though five of Subaru’s nine models found fewer homes than before.

Subaru’s best-seller in 2024 was the Crosstrek, which sold 181,811 units, a notable 14.2% jump from the previous year, which allowed it to usurp the Outback, Subaru of America’s previous most popular model. Sales of the Forester also rose by a considerable 15.1%, with 175,521 examples sold. Although the Outback is now Subaru’s third-best-selling model, sales grew by 4.3% to 168,771.

The only other Subaru model that enjoyed a particularly strong 2024 was the Solterra, with sales rising by 40.3% to 12,447.

On the other end of the spectrum was the WRX. While the latest-generation model is a solid all-round performer, sales fell by 24.7% last year to 18,587 units. Interestingly, December 2024 was a strong month for the WRX, as sales increased by 30%.
