• A police impersonator has authorities on alert in Georgia and North Carolina.
  • The man is using a black Dodge Charger with tinted windows and a single emergency light.
  • Drivers are being told to call 911 if they think they’ve been pulled over by an impersonator.

Getting pulled over is never fun, but things in the South have taken a scary turn as multiple law enforcement agencies in Georgia and North Carolina are warning drivers about a police impersonator. The cases appear to be connected and involve a black Dodge Charger.

Georgia’s Towns County Sheriff’s Office took to social media last month to alert residents and state they don’t have Charger patrol cars. They went on to say an “unknown individual has been reported in multiple county’s surrounding our area pulling over cars and approaching citizens impersonating a law enforcement officer.”

There’s not much of a description of the car, but it’s a black Charger with tinted windows and a single emergency light. The model also has a “tinted tag cover,” which apparently conceals their license plate.

It’s unclear why this particular person is impersonating an officer, but he’s being described as “small in stature with brown hair.” He has also been spotted wearing a gray and dark blue uniform as well as a vest that houses a radio and handcuffs.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office said they’re taking the reports as a “personal attack” on the law enforcement community as well as the safety of its citizens. They went on to encourage drivers to call 911 if they’re ever pulled over by someone they have doubts about.

North Carolina’s Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office shared a similar warning as a driver was apparently pulled over on “US19 just south of NC141.” This was echoed by the Hiawassee Police Department, which also noted they don’t use Dodge Chargers.
