• Ruf’s 993-based CTR2 is one of only 18 examples, making it an incredibly rare find.
  • It is one of 4 cars in the US, and the only one worldwide finished in Adriatic Blue.
  • With 520 hp and 506 lb-ft of torque, the CTR2 boasts impressive performance figures.

One of Ruf’s most famous creations is heading to auction in early March and could trade hands for as much as $2.5 million. We’re, of course, talking about this bright blue Ruf CTR2 from 1997. Based on the 993-generation Porsche 911, it offers similar performance to a modern 911 Turbo and is thought to be one of just 18 examples ever manufactured.

Ruf built the CTR2 between 1995 and 1997 as the successor to the iconic Ruf CTR Yellowbird and this car is one of just four residing in the United States. Adding more to its exclusivity is the breathtaking Adriatic Blue, making this CTR2 the only one with this spec.

Power comes from a twin-turbo 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six with an impressive 520 hp and 506 lb-ft (686 Nm) of torque. To put those figures into perspective, the 992.1-generation 911 Turbo is capped at 572 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque, despite being almost 30 years newer. Of course, the presence of a six-speed manual in the CTR2 as opposed to the PDK of the current Turbo means it’s not as quick off the line. Power is sent to all four wheels, like in the modern 911 Turbo.

Nevertheless, it’s no slouch, as it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in as little as 3.6 seconds, and power through the quarter-mile in just 11.8 seconds at 124 mph (200 km/h). Impressively, the Ruf has a higher top speed than the current 911 Turbo, able to hit 211 mph (340 km/h) against the 205 mph (330 km/h) top speed of the current car.

Gooding & Company has been tasked with selling this CTR2. It shows 60,194 km (37,402 miles) on the odometer and has been clearly well-maintained. The interior looks absolutely immaculate and the black leather across the seats, door panels, and dashboard show very little signs of wear.
