- A prototype of the 2026 Genesis GV90 has been spied in an embarrassing position.
- The production version of last year’s Neolun electric SUV had to be towed from a snowy ditch.
- Genesis is targeting Tesla’s Model X with the GV90, which has separate second-row seats.
Automaker test drivers do their best to steer clear of spy photographers wherever possible, but there wasn’t much these engineers could do to prevent our prototype hunters from getting some juicy details about the 2026 Genesis GV90. The luxury electric SUV got stuck in the snow and had to wait to be recovered.
This is our first sighting of the GV90 since Genesis previewed the model with the Neolun concept in spring 2024, and based on these images, the production SUV is going to look very much like the show car. It has a strong, confident, upright stance, and a more formal design than some of the brand’s other models.

The long (circa 3.1 m / 122 inches) wheelbase allows Genesis to fit three rows of seats and these images include a sneaky look inside the second row where we can see two individual chairs separated by a giant console with what looks like a phone charging tray and a small tablet, probably to control the rear climate. The seats appear similar to the ones in the concept, but not everything has made the leap to production.
Despite designer SangYup Lee hinting last year that Genesis wasn’t ruling out the B-pillar-free design making it to the street, this prototype has conventional rear doors. And there’s no sign of the front seats being able to swivel through 180 degrees, as on the concept, or the middle two doing it either (the Kia EV9’s can).
The stricken test drivers did have the presence of mind to cover the dashboard up to prevent us from getting a look at the digital setup (the concept had a large single monitor that rose from the dash). But our busy snappers did document the air-sprung suspension and rear-axle steering.
Genesis didn’t give out much in the way of technical details about the Neolun last year, but we know it’ll ride on the same E-GMP platform found under its Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9 brothers. Both of those SUVs start with RWD, single-motor variants, but the more luxury-focused GV90 should get two motors and all-wheel drive as standard.

That could mean base models delivering the same 429 hp (435 PS) as top-spec Kias and Hyundais, with a 600+hp (608 PS) flagship topping the lineup. If it shares the Ioniq 9’s 110 kWh battery, the GV90 could travel 390 miles (620 km) before making use of its 800-volt charging capability.
We’re expecting the GV90 to debut in the next few months and go on sale for the 2026 model year priced from around $100,000.
