The Audi S2 is one seriously cool car. Not only was it the first car in the S series from Audi, but it offered thrilling performance for the day thanks to a punchy 2.2-liter turbocharged five-cylinder. However, that wasn’t enough for a shop out in South Africa, which decided to build an S2 unlike any other.
Eager to find a fun new project car, the shop managed to get its hands on a pristine S2 and set about making it something truly special. The first task was to make it stand out. They decided to give the German two-door model a Prior Design bodykit, but due to the limited nature of this kit, actually sourcing one proved difficult. Thus, they did the next best thing and found a local who was willing to replicate the kit by hand.

The team then knew it needed to give the S2 an engine to better complement the aggressive new looks. Their first thought was the five-cylinder from a new Audi RS3, but then they decided to go with the V10 from an Audi R8 and were eager to build something unique. However, finding an Audi V10 wasn’t easy, so they had to buy a complete Audi R8 V10 Spyder and pull out the 5.2-liter engine.
Of course, getting a modern V10 to work in a car that’s 30 years old was never going to be easy, so a lot of work has been done on the electrical side to get it up and running. There’s also a bespoke exhaust system to ensure the R8 engine can sing. Completing the serious mechanical modifications is a custom air suspension system.
A bespoke interior has also been crafted. It’s now bathed in beautiful red leather with white accents. It also features a thumping audio system behind the front seats, just in case a driver isn’t satisfied by the singing V10 alone.
