- Morgan has revealed their upcoming flagship will be called the Supersport.
- The model replaces the Plus Six and will feature a BMW-sourced engine.
- A debut is schedule for March 11, with Richard Hammond hosting the event.
Following a teaser last month, Morgan has revealed its Plus Six successor will be called the Supersport. The model will be unveiled on March 11 during a livestream hosted by Richard Hammond.
The event starts at 10:50 am GMT and will take place at the company’s workshops in Worcestershire. Morgan will also be hosting a simultaneous launch event at the Louwman Museum in the Netherlands. The latter is home to more than 275 vehicles including a 1941 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Spider Corsa Sperimentale Balena, which was found in pieces in a bedroom in Buenos Aires.

Morgan is keeping details under wraps, but has previously confirmed the Supersport will ride on a new CXV bonded aluminum platform. It’s an evolution of their previous architecture and customers can expect a stiffer chassis as well as a weight reduction.
Power will be provided by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine sourced from BMW. Little is known about it at this point, but the Plus Six had a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder producing 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. It was connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and this enabled the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 166 mph (267 km/h).
On the styling front, there isn’t much to report as the latest teasers only reveal the Supersport moniker and dual exhaust system. That being said, the rear end appears far more modern and streamlined than the Plus Six.
Despite this, the car will still be instantly recognizable as a Morgan thanks to its retro-inspired design. However, the company is aiming for a “more contemporary aesthetic and aerodynamically informed proportion.”
