Audi has offered a first glimpse of the upcoming 2026 A6 Avant, building anticipation ahead of its official debut on March 4. Although the teaser image doesn’t reveal much, leaked videos circulating online suggest the new A6 will bear a striking resemblance to the smaller A5.
Initially, Audi planned to rename the successor to the internal combustion engine A6 as the A7, distinguishing it from the fully electric A6 e-tron. However, the German automaker has once again shifted its naming strategy, allowing the new model to retain the familiar A6 badge.

The A6 Avant will be the first version to launch, with the traditional four-door sedan expected to follow shortly after. The teaser hints at a sleek wagon silhouette and introduces a new lighting signature, featuring a full-width LED strip at the rear.
While we’re still a week away from the full reveal, two short clips shared by KondorCars on YouTube appear to show the Audi A6 Avant fully uncovered. The videos were uploaded last week, but look very similar to the teaser, suggesting they are real.
The vehicle featured in the videos is an Audi A6 Quattro with the S-Line package, recognizable by its sporty bumpers, large wheels, and black badging. The front end is reminiscent of the Audi A5, though a closer look reveals a noticeably taller grille. The headlights also feature a slightly sharper design, drawing comparisons to the outgoing RS6 and the A7 Sportback.
The profile looks more modern and muscular than before thanks to the pronounced rear shoulders and the flush door handles. The tail also plays a role in the sportier stance, with a heavier incline on the rear glass and a generous rear overhang.

Besides the regular A6 Sedan and A6 Avant, our spy photographers have caught camouflaged prototypes of the A6 Allroad and the flagship RS6.
The Audi A6 is expected to ride on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture, an updated version of the MLB Evo (Modular Longitudinal Matrix) platform. The powertrain lineup will most likely include gasoline and diesel options, enhanced with a mild-hybrid system. As for the RS6, the latest reports suggest it will ditch the V8 for a plug-in hybrid V6 setup, with an M5-rivaling output of 725 hp.
Audi CEO, Gernot Döllner, said: “With the A6, we are now renewing an important model series.” The Audi boss added: “We are writing the next chapter in our Avant history. The new Audi A6 unites an elegant and dynamic design with exceptional aerodynamics. Efficient yet high-performance drive systems and cutting-edge suspension technology combine sportiness with a high level of comfort, making traveling in the A6 a first-class experience.”
All details about the new Audi A6 Avant will be revealed at its world premiere on March 4. It will compete directly with the BMW 5-Series Touring and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate.
H/T to Marko for the videos!
