• Tom Brady is teaming up with Hertz to promote used cars and a Cadillac giveaway.
  • Hertz’s 2023 Cadillac XT5 giveaway comes with Brady’s signature and a $30K value.
  • The rental giant is trying to recover from a $2.9B loss in 2024 due to its EV gamble.

Hertz, still scrambling to recover from a tough 2024, has decided to throw a Hail Mary with none other than Tom Brady. The legendary quarterback is now part of Hertz’s strategy to sell more used cars in 2025. As part of the effort, Hertz is also giving away a used 2023 Cadillac XT5 to one lucky winner. Not only will the winner score a new-to-them car, but they’ll also get Tom Brady’s John Hancock on the visor.

Why leverage a pricey celebrity endorsement like that of Brady? Losing some $2.9 billion in 2024 could have something to do with it. Gil West, the CEO of Hertz, says the brand has a new leadership team and a new plan, and clearly it includes moves like this one. Brady will be the face of several ads and at the heart of this Cadillac giveaway.

As for the giveaway car, the rental giant had this to say: “The 2023 Cadillac XT5 is equipped with several entertainment and safety features, including, but not limited to: navigation system, power moonroof, wireless phone connectivity, emergency communications system, lane departure, leather upholstery and more. The luxury SUV now also includes Brady’s handwritten signature on the driver’s side visor.”

As part of the pitch to push its used car sales, Hertz points out says that its used cars all get a 115-point inspection and a 12-month or 12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.

“Hertz Car Sales has come up with the perfect game plan – with their seamless certification process, wide selection of premium vehicles, and clear upfront pricing. Hertz is committed to delivering exceptional service to their customers. I’m excited to work alongside their team and help people find the right car for them,” Brady said, almost definitely reading from a teleprompter.

It’s unclear whether he’s more excited about the paycheck or the fact that this is his most relaxed role in years, but either way, he’s all in.

Hertz Hires Tom Brady To Sell Used Cars

“Tom Brady might be collecting jobs like he collected championship rings, but he’s proving to be a genuine MVP in the used car game,” said Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales. “He’s showcasing our Hertz Car Sales vehicles with the same precision he showed on the field – and why premium vehicles like the Cadillac XT5 offer that perfect blend of luxury and reliability. When it comes to delivering value to customers, Brady’s definitely a pro.”

If you’re feeling lucky—or just want a signed car from Tom Brady—you can enter the sweepstakes at Hertz.com/TomBradyUsedCar. The contest runs from now until April 14, 2025. No word yet on whether Brady will actually hand over the keys in person, but we wouldn’t hold our breath.
