- Sellers on Amazon are offering prefab tiny homes for sale, including some with garages.
- In many cases, they cost less than a brand new car, but that doesn’t mean they’re a good deal.
- One recently highlighted online does have a garage but is missing a very important feature.
The housing crisis has people across the USA scrambling for solutions. It’s part of why several sellers on Amazon are now offering prefabricated tiny homes that can fit just about anywhere. Of course, sometimes things that appear to be too good to be true are in fact just so.
Take, for example, this quaint little home with two bedrooms, a large living room, and even a garage space for your BMW sedan. Priced at just $13,678, it sounds like a steal. In fact, the description of it paints a beautiful picture for prospective buyers.

“The spacious interior features living, dining, kitchen, and bedroom areas, providing ample space for your lifestyle needs. Constructed with durable shipping containers, this modular home boasts a sleek and contemporary design. Enjoy the convenience of easy assembly and the flexibility to relocate if desired. With its garage and outdoor deck, this container house combines functionality with style.”
In essence, buyers could use this home and then move it should they find another property where they’d prefer it. Maybe that’s why Southern Living featured it in November of last year. Of course, they might have missed a few noteworthy bits that we’d like to point out. For one thing, note that the word “bathroom” never came up anywhere until now. Not in the product description and not in the floor plan either. Don’t take it from us either. Here’s a top-down view of the bedrooms.

The lower floor does feature a sink so there is some plumbing here but that appears to be the extent of it. Luxury living in my mind always involves having a bathroom available on property. The good folks at Southern Living might call me soft but that’s my stance. Maybe that’s why it’s rendered in the middle of a cornfield with irrigation. The field IS the bathroom.

On top of that questionable omission, it seems that the seller, only listed as “Generic” now on Amazon, isn’t replying to prospective buyers either. Tiny homes are indeed available on the platform but perhaps it’s best that this is no longer one of them. Sure, a home and garage for less than the price of your car sounds great. But in this case it’s certainly too good to be true.
