V12 Ferraris have gone mental the past few years; they’ve transformed from the luxury GTs of old to being transatlantic cruise missiles that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up by even nudging the throttle pedal.
There is so much awesomeness surrounding the mighty 812 Superfast. In pretty much every other car, the name ‘Superfast’ would be tacky – but not here, not on Ferrari’s latest and greatest.
The naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 is the star here. It can rev up to 8,900 rpm, an insane figure given its size and cylinder count, but that’s not where the madness ends. Thanks to its extremely high-pressure injection system, the latest and greatest version of Ferrari’s V12 produces a stunning 800PS (789hp).
This masterpiece of an engine is then spanked by a lightning-fast dual-clutch transmission that also has shorter gearing than the F12berlinetta it replaced.
Ferrari claims it’ll do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). Yet, and despite the sincerely insane performance available, the 812 Superfast can still act as a grand tourer when you want it to.
The following video, courtesy of hartvoorautosNL, shows the 812 casually travelling at speeds north of 155 mph (250 km/h) on the German autobahn, even hitting 200 mph (320 km/h) at some point. If you always liked your Ferraris with a V12, preparing to fall in love even more with this one.
