Unveiled last year in Dubai, the Devel Sixty is an off-road concept that sits in a league of its own.
It’s basically a military vehicle for the road with six-wheel traction, which makes the likes of the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, the Flying Huntsman and Hennessey VelociRaptor look tame in comparison.
Beneath its stunning exterior design is a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 engine that puts out an impressive 720 horsepower and 738 pound-feet (1,000Nm) of torque.
We still don’t know the official 0-62mph (0-100km/h) time, nor its top speed for that matter, but for what is essentially a go-anywhere vehicle, the Devel Sixty is insanely fast on the drag strip.
Devel Sixty Concept vs. Mercedes-AMG GT S drag race
Filmed recently in action, it took on a Mercedes-AMG GT S and smoked it, despite the 3.8 seconds required by the German sports car to hit the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark and its 193 mph (310 km/h) official top speed.
Next came a Mercedes G-Wagen, which didn’t pose a threat to the Devel Sixty either, leaving everyone watching the race speechless.
As cool as it may be to drive the concept, it comes nowhere near the production-spec Sixteen. The hypercar will be offered with three different outputs: 2,000, 3,000 and a mind-blowing 5,000 HP. The first two use a twin-turbo V8 engine, and the latter, which will be restricted to track use, has a quad-turbo 12.3-liter V16.
Of course, all of this power comes at a very steep price: $1.6 million, and that’s for the base model. Not a bad deal for getting a go-anywhere, 2,000 HP SUV, is it?
