Few would complain about the 707 hp Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk not being fast enough. Hennessey Performance is a little different, however.

The Texas tuning company offers a little thing called the HPE1000 Supercharged Upgrade which extensively modifies the Trackhawk’s powertrain to lift grunt to a healthy 1012 hp at 6500 rpm and 969 lb-ft of torque at 4200 rpm.

To achieve these gains, Hennessey has fitted a 4.5-liter supercharger that can whip out an impressive 14 psi of boost. Elsewhere, stainless steel long tube headers have been added alongside a high-flow supercharger bypass valve, upgraded high-flow fuel injectors, new ECU software, and a high-flow air induction system. The performance gains to come from these upgrades are profound.

When recently taken to the drag strip, the Hennessey Trackhawk accelerated to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a blistering 2.7 seconds and ran a quarter mile of 10.7 seconds at 132 mph (2121 km/h).

To put these figures into perspective, they are almost identical to the acceleration times offered by the Lamborghini Huracan, Audi R8 V10 Plus, and Ferrari 488 GTB and come despite the Jeep’s massive size and weight.

Unlike these supercars, the Trackhawk is also extremely practical and well-suited to cross-country journeys. If given the choice, would you prefer a practical beast like the Hennessey Trackhawk or a mid-engine supercar?
