Peugeot will unveil a bold concept car at September’s Paris Auto Show, chief executive Jean-Philippe Imparato has confirmed.
While briefly discussing the vehicle with Autocar, Imparato said that the concept will be “outstanding and radical” but other than that, he has remained tight-lipped about the vehicle. However, Peugeot does intend on offering an electrified version for all its new models from 2019, so it is very likely the concept will arrive with an electric powertrain.
The most impressive concept car introduced by Peugeot in recent times is unquestionably the Instinct Concept. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017, it came with a bright blue paint scheme, suicide-style rear doors, sculptural fenders, a pair of seductive headlights, and a defined rear fascia with LED taillights.
Electrification will play an important part in Peugeot’s future
As for the French carmaker’s electrified vehicle plans, future models will be offered in petrol, diesel, and electrified forms.
“One hundred per cent of new launches will have electrified versions from 2019. You will buy your Peugeot and choose the engine for your need. It will not be the same in every country and city, and we must cope with that,” Imparto said.
“So we put in place a modular platform, and you will choose diesel if you want to, petrol if it’s for you. Each launch will have three powertrains: diesel, petrol and electrified.”
Peugeot is also expected to unveil a 508 Wagon in Paris.
