2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Starts Just Under $20k

Toyota has released pricing for its full model line for the 2019 model year, covering everything from the 86 to the Land Cruiser. But the real news is the arrival of the new Corolla Hatchback.

Replacing the previous Corolla iM (which in turn was sold as a Scion before that brand was shut down), the new Corolla Hatchback sits alongside the Corolla sedan in Toyota’s compact lineup.

Hitting showrooms in time for the 2019 model year, it carries a price of admission starting at $19,990 – just ten bucks shy of the $20k mark.

That’s for the base SE model with the six-speed manual. Go for the continuously variable automatic transmission option and you’ll pay an extra $1,100, or $21,090. The top-level XSE start at $22,990 with the 6MT, or $24,090 with the CVT.

That makes the hatchback a little more expensive than the sedan, which starts at $18,700. But the sedan has more trim levels to choose from, including L, LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. You can get the six-speed on the four-door as well, but only in SE trim for $21,865. The XSE is the top of the line at $22,880.

Of course, you’ll have to add a $920 destination charge on all those figures. So while you can still get a base Corolla L sedan with the CVT for under $20k ($19,600 delivered), the lowest MSRP with delivery for the hatchback comes out to $20,910. And the most you can pay for a Corolla (before options) is $25,010 for an XSE hatch with the CVT (delivered).

The lowest MSRP on any new 2019 Toyota, in case you were wondering, is $15,635 ($16,555 delivered) for a base Yaris L three-door hatchback with a five-speed. And the highest is the Land Cruiser for $84,565 ($85,860 with the higher $1,295 destination charge).
