We presume that Ferrari will never make a convertible version of the SP38, as the whole idea behind it was to create a one-off for a wealthy customer.
However, while we won’t get to see the SP38 as a Spider in the real world, we can always see how it would look like thanks to a rendering by Xtomi.
The digital artist hasn’t only chopped the roof off, but changed the panel behind the seats to give it a rollover protection. Elsewhere, the Italian supercar looks the same as the real deal, but removing its roof would obviously come with the weight penalty of a reinforced chassis.

Hypothetically speaking, an SP38 Spider would practically be just as fast as the one-off launched last weekend during the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event in Italy. After all, it would retain the twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 of the 488, on which it is based.
Unlike the bodywork, the SP38’s powertrain remains totally stock. This means that, just like the 488 GTB and Spider, it delivers 670 PS (661 HP / 492 kW) and 760 Nm (561 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox and a trick, electronically control differential.
Ferrari did not disclose any performance figures for its latest special. However, we presume that the SP38 will be just as fast as 488 GTB, which needs just 3.0 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint and and maxes out at 330 km/h (205 mph).
