One doesn’t necessarily have to drive a RWD car on the track to lose the rear end, as abusing the right pedal and steering wheel can have disastrous consequences in FWD machines, too.
Known for its precise steering and proper suspension setup, not only in the highly desired RS but the plain vanilla versions, too, this second generation Ford Focus had a tough time on the Nurburgring recently.
The Focus was filmed taking a left corner, when the rear wheels lost traction. The hatchback eventually did a 180-degree turn, right in front of a Seat Leon, whose driver slowed down and managed to avoid getting involved in the incident.

Now, it’s hard to tell what exactly caused the Focus to hit the guardrail, though the surface may have had something to do with it, as as a small portion of the track appears to have been wet. Still, the crash wasn’t too severe, so we guess there’s nothing that cannot be repaired or replaced.
The driver eventually pulled away a few seconds after the impact, heading towards the nearest exit just as one of the track officials, who was in the area, came closer to the scene, ready to wave the yellow flag and warn of oncoming drivers of the hazard nearby.
