A memorial motorcycle ride in Rancho Cucamonga, California, took a bad turn last Sunday when a CHP (California Highway Patrol) officer knocked a rider off his bike during a traffic stop. A large group of bikers came to the scene and immediately confronted the officer.
While the incident is currently under investigation, witnesses appear certain about what they saw. It all started when a CHP officer tried to pull over one of the bikers on the eastbound 210 freeway, as reported by ABC7.
The officer stands accused of intentionally knocking over the biker, who stood little chance of remaining upright once the police cruiser made contact with his Yamaha.
“The officer actually took off on all lanes, risking everyone’s life on the freeway because we took the whole freeway,” stated one of the witnesses. Another one said that “the cop was on one side and he actually knocked down the biker. It’s not right. You can’t compare four wheels to two wheels.”
As for damages, the officer’s Charger presented dents where it made contact with the bike, while the latter came away with more of the same. Thankfully, the rider didn’t appear to be hurt.
According to CHP officials, the incident occurred during a routine traffic stop and the officer is currently out of the LA area. While no further details were provided, we’ll certainly keep an eye out for any updates on this story.
