Remember the Alfa Romeo Mole Costruzione 001 we showed you a few days ago? Of course you do, it’s one of the most impressive one-off creations we saw this month.
Time to get a better look at Mole’s latest coachbuilt creation, as Marchettino visited the company’s stand in order to show us the Costruzione 001 in more detail.
This special rebodied Alfa Romeo 4C is a collaboration between Up Design and the Adler Group. The new bodywork combines elements from Alfa’s latest models, including the Giulia Quadrifoglio, with special touches like the front end aero ducts sitting next to the headlights.
Thanks to the new design, the mid-engined Italian sports car is now 11.8 inches (30cm) longer, 2.3 inches (6cm) wider and less than an inch taller (2cm), altering the proportions and making it look like a proper supercar.
The cabin, which is arguably one of 4C’s weakest points, has been updated with leather upholstery covering nearly everything and special aluminum switchgear replacing the nasty plastic stuff. In combination with the exposed carbon, the Mole Costruzione 001 now looks more special from the inside too.
Despite the extensive changes, the powerplant remains untouched; this means that the turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine still produces 237 hp (176 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. Performance should be close to the standard Alfa Romeo 4C, which can sprint from 0 to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 160mph (257km/h).
