There has been plenty of speculation on a possible estate version of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia, but alas, this picture is not official, as we found out shortly after posting this article, which we’ve updated.
Shared on social media (Ferd @ Facebook) and on Autocar, which has since removed the photo, the allegedly leaked image supposedly showed the five-door premium compact wagon’s rear end with the boot lid open, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, a small hatch for storing skis and loading rails, in addition to the dual exhaust pipes that mirror the saloon.
As it turns out, someone just photoshoped the regular Giulia’s rear on a Jaguar estate (thanks to our readers and Vincent from Autoblog.nl for the shout).
In regards to an actual Giulia estate, rumor has it that it could adopt the Sportwagon suffix of its predecessor and focus more on styling rather than class-leading boot space, with a load volume similar to that of a BMW 3-Series Touring, which would be one of its main rivals.
The engine lineup would of course be entirely shared with the four-door Giulia too, but it’s unknown yet whether the Italians could add a range-topping QV version.
As for its unveil date, nothing is certain for now, but some say that it could its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, next March.
