Even though both these cars are putting down the same amount of power and torque, you could still argue that this is a typical muscle car vs near supercar battle.
To make things even more interesting, the folks at Hennessey Performance left the cars alone in terms of modifications, which means that everything that happens once the drivers stumble on to the throttle will be on the up and up.
The same 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine is shared by both models, and the 2017 ZL1 has been confirmed to pack 650 HP and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) just like the Z06.
What this means performance-wise is that the ZL1 can rocket to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, which would have sounded mighty impressive had it not been for the Z06 achieving the same, only in 2.95 seconds.
Unfortunately for the latter, these cars were raced using a rolling start, so the Corvette’s advantage off the line pretty much disappears.
Time to place your bets gentlemen!
