If you’re looking for a project car to spend you hard-worked money on, then the C3 Corvette is the one.
Shadowed by the 2nd-gen Corvette Stingray, the C3 doesn’t get the credit it deserves in spite of being a truly gorgeous car. Granted, it wasn’t the most refined brute on the lot and it handled poorly, but with a little tinkering it could become a real gem.
You can still get a late 70’s – early 80’s car in good condition for less than $10,000, which would make the perfect basis for a project.
Kind of like this particular 1973 model, presented by Matt Farah. It was created by Detroit Speed to handle like a dream, and it features a wide array of mods. It’s also used by the company as a development vehicle for the C3 platform, meaning it gets all the prototype parts before anyone else – and that’s the reason why it looks so good.
Equipped with a custom, prototype, front-and-rear suspension system still in development, as well as a modified an LS3 engine capable of developing 590 hp (and an eargasm), the Corvette’s place is clearly on the track. In fact, it was put together with autocross-winning capabilities in mind.
