As far as recent limited-edition Ferrari models go, few are as sought after or will prove more collectable than the 458 Speciale Aperta.
Limited to just 499 units worldwide, the model is fetching nearly $1 million in the used car market as it is the final naturally-aspirated V8 Ferrari model to ever roll out of the factory.
To see just how special it is, Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire recently jumped behind the wheel of one thanks to Fusion Luxury Motors.
This particular example currently has a $730,000 asking price attached to it, almost double the vehicle’s MSRP in the United States and as with most of Ferraris range-topping V8 models, it is an extraordinary piece of kit.
Driving the 458 Speciale Aperta is a naturally-aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine that spins all the way to 9,000 rpm and churns out 597 hp and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm. All of that power is transferred to the rear wheels courtesy of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that offers lightning fast shifts.
Alongside its improved engine, the hardcore variant of the 458 Spider includes a host of aerodynamic changes, new carbon fiber parts, a lower overall weight and much more menacing design.
As Ferrari has now shifted to forced induction for the 488, the 458 Speciale A is bound to go down in Ferrari folklore.
