Not too long ago, we saw Rimac’s impressive Concept_One teaching a Ferrari LaFerrari a thing or two in a drag race. Now it’s time to see how it fares against the quarter mile king of the hybrid hypercar trio, the Porsche 918 Spyder.
According to various independent tests, the 918 Spyder is up there with the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport as the world’s fastest accelerating production car. Under the right conditions, it can be quicker, even hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.2 seconds and completing the quarter mile in 9.8 seconds when tested by Car and Driver.
To settle it once and for all, YouTuber Alejandro Salomon invited the crew from Rimac, including its founder, to the drag strip to race his Acid Green Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach. The results are understandably incredible.
We won’t ruin the results for you, but it is certainly among the closest races we’ve seen all year. And when you consider that these two production hypercars are capable of sub-10 second quarter mile passes, it’s little wonder why.
The while video is worth a watch, but for those that can’t wait, skip to the 5 minute mark for the race.
