In case anyone needed proof of the McLaren 675LT’s raw speed, the following video should more than suffice.
The limited-run 675LT represents one of the company’s finest moments, giving this track-focused supercar a rightful place next to icons like the F1 and the P1.
Describing it as a tuned-up 650S is doing it injustice. After all, McLaren went on and changed pretty much everything for the transformation to a 675LT. Most of the bodywork is totally revised in order for it to produce 40 percent more downforce over the regular model, the tracks are wider by 20mm while the suspension now features a revised geometry and stiffer, lighter springs. The windshield is thinner and the rear bulkhead glass and engine cover are made out of polycarbonate in order to help in dropping the weight down by more than 100kg (220lbs).
And then, there’s the powertrain. More than 50 percent of the twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 has been changed including new, more efficient turbos, redesigned cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, new camshaft and lightweight connecting rods, and a faster-flowing fuel pump and delivery system. The result is a devilish 666hp (675PS) and 515lb.ft (700Nm) of torque.
Zero to 62mph (0-100km/h) comes in 2.9 seconds, 0-124mph (0-200km/h) in 7.9(!) seconds with the top speed set at 205mph (330km/h). There is no doubt that this thing is quick and judging by McLaren’s expertise on making extraordinary fast cars, it’s no wonder that the 675LT proves to be one of the fastest ways to lap a track. Any track.
Can it beat though its big brother around the beautiful Anglesey circuit? Evo magazine tries to find out in the video linked below.
