The facelifted Kia Soul EV is expected to become the latest electric vehicle to enjoy a significant boost in range.

As battery technology has improved and become cheaper, affordable electric vehicles with impressive ranges are beginning to hit the market, such as the Chevrolet Bolt, impending Tesla Model 3 and an improved version of the Renault Zoe.

Consequently, Kia is expected to join the party when the updated Soul EV is unveiled sometime in 2017, claims Green Car Reports.

The current Soul EV has an official EPA-rated range of 93 miles which at the time of the model’s launch, placed it only behind the Tesla Model S. For 2018, that figure will increase dramatically, but probably not quite to the 238 mile figure of the Bolt.

When the improved Soul does launch, it will be accompanied by a selection of other updates, most notably refreshed exterior and interior styling.

At this stage, it isn’t known if Kia will choose to sell the new model in all U.S. states or just some as the current Soul EV is only available at select dealerships in 10 states.
