Sales of all brands under the Volkswagen umbrella have piled up to 759,400 in August, representing a 6.3 percent increase over the previous period.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars remains the leader, with 453,200 units delivered in the eighth month of the year, up 4.7 percent, followed by Audi, with a 2.9 percent increase to 132,300. Skoda, Seat and Porsche sold 80,700, 25,300 and 19,100 vehicles respectively, while the giant’s Commercial Vehicles division was responsible for another 35,500 units, up 25.3 percent.

All Group brands turned in a solid delivery performance in August and for the first eight months. That underscores customers’ trust in our brands. Our models performed particularly well in Asia-Pacific and Europe. Nevertheless, our task now is to strengthen and expand this trust, particularly in the North America region“, said Fred Kappler, Head of Group Sales.

In the first eight months of the year, the Volkswagen Group was responsible for moving 2.78 million vehicles globally, up 3.1 percent, out of which 2,783,700 were delivered in Europe, where the western part of the continent accounted for 2,356,200, out of which 881,100 were sold in Germany. In Central and Eastern Europe, 426,500 vehicles were sold from January to August, up 6.6 percent,

On the other side of the Atlantic, in North America, the giant posted a 1.3 percent drop, to 610,100 units, out of which 379,400 were delivered in the USA, down 6.4 percent, while in South America, the Group’s sales dropped by 25.3 percent, to 292,600 units.

Asia-Pacific continues to play a major role for the Volkswagen Group, as it accounted for 2,700,000 vehicles in the first eight months of the year, a 7.0 percent increase, out of which 2,471,600 were delivered in China, up 9.4 percent.
