A 1995 Porsche 911 GT2 in Riviera Blue has sold for an extraordinary £1.84 million ($2.44 million) at RM Sotheby’s recent auction in London.
Prior to the sale, estimates suggested the desirable 911 would sell for between £750,000 and £850,000 but clearly, some enthusiastic bidders thought the car was too good to be sold for such a measly sum.
Considering the rarity of the car, it’s no surprise that the model is proving a favorite among Porsche collectors. Just 57 road-going 993-generation GT2s were ever produced and this particular example was only ever owned by one person prior to its sale last week.
Alongside the Riviera Blue paint, the car has a set of black and grey leather seats, black carpeting throughout alongside a number of bright blue accents like the seat backs, door pulls, stitching and seat belts. Adding to the car’s value was its fastidious servicing done by Porsche Zentrum in Porsche’s home of Stuttgart, Germany.
The 993 GT2’s spec sheet reads like as one would expect from one of Porsche’s finest. Its 3.6-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine delivers 444 hp at 6,000 rpm and 432 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, for a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of just 3.9 seconds and a sprint down the quarter mile in 12.1 seconds at 117 mph (188 km/h).
