Rivaling the likes of the Nissan X-Trail, the Skoda Kodiaq could become ground zero for the development of a similar Seat.

Such a vehicle has been already discussed by one of the brand’s chiefs in the UK, who admitted that he’d “love to see it”. However, before an official decision will be taken, the automaker’s regular customers will have to get used to more expensive Seat models and, in turn, the company will have to “earn the right to sell cars there”.

Imagining how a large Seat SUV could look like means taking the Skoda Kodiaq and strap similar lighting units, grille and other bits and pieces taken from the Ateca, along with the manufacturer’s own logos, in an exercise restraint that will very much resemble TheophilusChin’s own interpretation of the Spanish model.

Seat’s range of SUVs could eventually expand furthermore, as the automaker also plans to go hunting for the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur, with a crossover based on the next-gen Ibiza, expected to go on sale next year. Underpinned by a smaller version of the MQB platform, it will share most styling cues with the upcoming supermini and will become the brand’s most affordable SUV.
