The introduction of new models such as the Range Rover Evoque Convertible have helped the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) group record its highest-selling August ever, eclipsing its results from August 2015 by 26 per cent.

Since sales of the Evoque Convertible kicked off, over 1,200 examples have been sold worldwide. That figure has allowed JLR to reach 372,978 vehicle sales in the first eight months of the year, 24 per cent up over the same period last year.

In August, Jaguar itself managed to sell 10,868 vehicles, a massive 104 per cent bump over the previous year. This increase can be largely attributed to the launch of both the F-Pace crossover and XE sedan. Sales in North America have more than doubled year-on-year.

Land Rover meanwhile shifted 26,058 vehicles in August, 9 per cent more than the same month last year, bringing its total sales for the first eight months of 2016 to 287,252. Last month, the best performing model for Land Rover was the Discovery Sport, shifting 7,053 units.

According to Jaguar Land Rover group sales operations director Andy Goss, “We continue to grow our sales, with impressive performances across both of our brands. Sales in North America were particularly strong, where we sold over 10,000 vehicles in August alone.”
