When purchasing or renovating a house, there’s one thing a petrol head will always think about, the garage. Most are happy with a simple two car garage but for one Australian, that wasn’t anywhere near enough so he took inspiration from The Dark Knight to create a real-life Bat Garage.
While renovating the property, the owner approached the architects at Molecule about somewhere to house his collection of cars. As the house itself was perfectly sited on the property, designers decided against adding a large external garage to the house, opting instead to go underground to create a secret garage.
After the entire garden was excavated and a massive hole in front of the house dug, construction on the garage itself commenced with inspiration taken directly from The Dark Knight. A nearly identical illuminated ceiling was created alongside high-gloss floors and parking for the owners Aston Martin DBS, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Maserati GranCabrio.
Once complete, builders hid the garage under the new garden and a large tennis court. To access the garage, a portion of the tennis court lifts up to reveal a hidden ramp that runs from the property’s boundary into the real-world Bat Garage.
Talk about living the dream.
