Utilizing the powertrain of the Megane RS 275 Trophy R, the Renault Clio RS 16 Concept made its presence felt when it was unveiled at the Monaco Grand Prix, earlier this year.
Now, three months later, the French brand is considering putting it into production, in a limited number of just 500 units, according to Caradisiac. However, giving it the green light doesn’t mean that the additional parts will be simply strapped to the existing Clio RS, as the car must go through all stages of development.
This will end up costing Renault a few million dollars, and will be reflected in the hot hatch’s final price, which is expected at around €40,000 ($45,125). An exact decision has yet to be made, but the French could end up announcing by the time the 2016 Paris Auto Show opens its gates this fall.
If the Renault Clio RS 16 gets approved for production, then it’s expected to become as wacky as the Clio V6, while it should smoke the current Megane Trophy RS, given that it places the same 275 PS (271 HP) engine on a lighter body. Still, don you think 40,000 euros or so is too steep for a Clio?
