The latest Panamera had a deeply rooted design philosophy to respect, even though the first model was launched just seven years ago at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The first-gen Panamera got a lot of heat for its ungainly design, but it laid the foundations for future Porsche saloons and its legacy can be spotted in the latest model, as well as in the Mission E Concept that previews a future all-electric sedan.

In their pursuit of making the second Panamera the sports car of the segment, the German car company’s designers wanted to give it a dynamic look. Consequently, the Panamera is the lowest and the widest in its class.

Its style, reminiscent of the 911, is a collection of design elements infused with Porsche’s DNA taken from classical sports cars. In other words, even though it has four doors and four seats, the Panamera was modeled to look like it drives; and we’re talking about a car that went around the Nurburgring as fast as a Lexus LF-A.
